Organic Green Tea & Honey Scrub

 Organic Green Tea & Honey Scrub Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of brewed organic green tea
  • 2 teaspoons of Manuka honey
  • 1 teaspoon of organic lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup of raw cane sugar

Pour organic green tea & lemon juice into small container or bowl, then stir in cane sugar and Manuka honey. The scrub will stay fresh in your refrigerator for a week. The sugar exfoliates dead skin cells, the lemon is rich in Vitamin C helping to fade scars, and the Manuka honey will help to heal any impurities. The organic green tea is packed full of antioxidants helping to protect your skin!

High & Low Glycemic Index

You maybe wondering, what the heck is GI anyways? GI or glycemic index simply describes how your body reacts to certain carbohydrates and how much blood sugar levels increase.

Think of it this way, the lower the GI Index of the food the less likely you’ll experience an instant increase in blood sugar levels.  This sudden spike in insulin production can lead to various ailments. For example, if you eat a piece of candy with a high GI level then your blood sugar raises instantly. You immediately feel energetic, your taste buds are lit up and sometimes if the candy is tasty enough you may experience a slight euphoria; whereas, if you consumed a piece of fruit with a low GI, the fruit’s sugar that becomes glucose would release into your blood stream slowly over the day to give you the energy you need.

You may find it interesting to know that if you’re suffering from diabetes, acne or weight problems then by simply cutting out completely or avoiding foods that have GI indexes, this would could tremendously help and some cases eliminate the issue you are having.  But don’t take it from me, the Linus Pauling Institute clearly demonstrates the evidence in the following parahraph:

“After a high-glycemic load meal, blood glucose levels rise more rapidly and insulin demand is greater than after a low-glycemic load meal. High blood glucose levels and excessive insulin secretion are thought to contribute to the loss of the insulin-secreting function of the pancreatic beta-cells that leads to irreversible diabetes (6). High dietary glycemic loads have been associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in several large prospective studies

The  S.A.D. a.k.a the standard american diet consists of an abundance of foods that are high in glycemic index ranging from 70-100. Is it any wonder that here in America, obesity and diabetes seem to be running rampid?

SUGAR IS YOUR ENEMY…Sort of!

AKA The enemy

Sugar, is your enemy… well sort of. Let me clarify, in moderation sugar is good for you. In fact, all human beings need sugar for the body to create glucose and sustain energy. However, too much sugar which most people consume on the S.A.D. diet is your ENEMY! In fact, sugar can be detrimental to your body and mind! Table sugar a.k.a. sucrose can contribute to the formation of kidney stones, acne, obesity, PMS symptoms,  cancer, migraines and or headaches, hyperactivity just to name a few ;)  My advice, whenever humanely possible…stay away from refined sugar. 

Nature provides tasty and ingenious alternatives! Agave nectar and honey can be used as substitues and as a bonus the sugar breaks down differently in your body. Agave nectar has a low glycemic index, which makes it a fabulous alternative to refined sugar if you’re trying to loose weight and prevent acne.  Honey’s glycemic index is slightly lower than refined sugar giving your body the energy it needs throughout the day versus an instant sugar high that can lead to a not so pleasant sugar crash.

What is Raw Food?

I know what you may be thinking at this point. Oh my gosh, raw food? You want me to eat raw chicken, and raw meat? Seriously?!! No! The good news is that raw food is any whole food that is natural, oragnic, raw and uncooked! Essentially, raw food consists of organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Any food that has not been heated above 105-118 degrees is still considered untampered with and retains all essential vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, etc.

What’s the big hype about Raw Food?
The good news, is that raw food is not just another fad diet! Haven’t we all had enough of those? In fact, eating raw or “going raw” is actually a lifestyle change! The reason why raw food has become so popular within the last decade is that people especially Americans are starting to seek alternative treatments for medical conditions versus tranditional medicine. When you eat raw food you literally can cure and prevent yourself from experiencing almost every disease known to man! WOW!! Did I just read that? Yes, it’s true! I know it’s a BIG statement, but even traditional medical research studies have shown time and time again that when preventative measures and even simple “diet” changes are made, diseases from A-Z have been prevented, slowed or even cured completely!
